For me playing with darjit is an invitation to create just about anything. Its a versatile and permenant sculpting and architectural building compound made from recycled paper and waste clay tailings. It has been developed by Brent Sumner who, 10 years ago, was asked if he could make use of the massive amounts of waste by-product from a porcelain clay mine that is unstable to the enviroment in its present state. Being passionate about recycling the earth's resources as well as our need to decrease the size of our landfills, mixed with a passion for earth building and living creatively, Brent has worked to produce this now tried and tested medium which lends itself perfectly to a huuuuge array of projects.

To work with darjit is similar to clay. Its a fudge-like substane which air-dries to a stone-like finish. Typically it works well over wire mesh structures which basically means anything is possible ...yeah anything ...from small detailed sculpture pieces to monuments and alternative housing, you name it, its probably possible!!!  It's hard-wearing, durable, suitable indoors, ages gracefully outdoors, is cheap, is incredibly fast and fun to use and, not forgetting, as it uses up recycled materials, is easier on the enviroment than a lot of other products on the market.

Darjit seems to have a quality that inspires and enthralls both beginners and experienced alike. It seems to appeal to anyone who has the inclination to play and explore their imagination....
